Why it exists
Finding queer books should not depend on knowing where to look.
Independent bookshops preserve memory, introduce readers to new voices, and create places where community can gather. This directory makes those places easier to discover across borders and languages.
The project is editorial, not exhaustive. It combines specialist LGBTQIA+ bookshops with selected feminist, radical, and allied spaces whose commitment to queer reading is visible and sustained.

Queer-led work
Projects whose ownership, editorial identity, or community practice is explicitly rooted in queer or trans experience.
Meaningful allied work
Feminist, radical, or independent spaces with a substantial and recurring contribution to queer reading.
Public access
Libraries and archives are included when people can directly consult books, publications, or community memory.
Research process
Human review, official sources, open corrections.
Listings are assembled from directory research, official websites, public social profiles, cultural reporting, and information supplied by the projects themselves.
Addresses, opening hours, operating formats, and programmes can change. Every profile therefore links to an official source, which visitors should consult before travelling.
Editorial independence
Listings are selected editorially.
