Why it exists
Bookshops can be shelter, archive, and future.
This index prioritises bookshops with an explicit, lasting commitment to LGBTQIA+ communities: specialist spaces, queer-led projects, and feminist or radical bookshops with a notable queer collection. A small number of public queer libraries and archives are included when they provide direct access to books and community memory.
This is not a closed list. Projects change, relocate, and new ones appear. Before travelling, always confirm the address and opening hours on each bookshop’s website.
